Several years ago I bought a serial ALDL cable from Dodgerunner and it worked fine on my old Dell laptop (1 GHz, 512 MB) running XP Pro SP3. I don't know anyone successfully using the CP210x chip in an ALDL cable. It most likely uses either the FTDI VCP or SiLabs CP210x chipset.
